It's been two week since I moved and started a new job, but I am just now starting to settle in. There still seems to be a lot to do. I truly haven't finished unpacking yet -- a chore that I find as horrible as the packing was. I think the biggest problem that I find is that I don't want to invade C's living space with my dozen or so tiger figurines and brickabrak. I am probably just in a desperate need of a curio cabinet, but we have so much furniture as it is that finding the room for more is hard. It doesn't help that I still haven't put my furniture, such as my bookshelf, where I want it so I truly have no sense of where things can or will go.
Thursday night, I went to a yarn store in Dupont Circle where they have a  sort-of social knitting night. They are at least open until 9pm, so I was there long enough to determine if I like what I see. The staff members were really nice, a few reminding me of TYC back in Va Beach, but the customers were horrible. They didn't really talk to me and looked down at me because I'm not wealthy or working with cashmere. They didn't like the hat that I was making, but I wonder if it's because none of them know how to do fair isle. Maybe my bad feelings are because I know that my favorite knitting people back home won't be replaced, but I am told it is good to meet people. I did meet some people at Fibrespace on Friday during their monthly knit-at-the-movies night. Of course, I was the strange one that decided to spin instead which caused more people to watch me instead of The Goonies

Yesterday, I went to Fibrespace while C worked. It was nice because those people are more likely to talk. I mean, they were all older like TYC Saturday group, but they were more willing to just have a conversation. I had the owner of the store come to me and ask if I would demonstrate my spinning to a few people since she remembered me spinning while watching The Goonies. I obliged because I kind of like being the center of attention when it comes to teaching, singing, or demonstrating a skill. One was a 10-year old boy who immediately looked at his mom and asked for a spindle. She declined even after asking me if start-up was as expensive as a wheel. I had another person tell me that spindle spinning isn't a correct way to spin which I stepped on my soap box and told her that spindle spinning is an older technique so how could it NOT be a correct way. She realized I was right, so I feel good.

It was even done in ancient Greece!!!

Today, C and I are going to have lunch with my Mom and Dad. We are meeting halfway between, so it'll be an all day affair. Works for me. It's not a bad drive though, so I don't mind.

Well, this was a short update. Things have been so busy that I forget to update my blog. Oh! Tonight, we are going to have Chocolate Chili  which I made last night and allowing it to "mingle" in the fridge before actually eating it. Yum! I truly need to get back on a much more strict diet since my stomach really hates me at this moment in time.

Alright, more unpacking!
